What are the Factors that Affect Thermal Breakdown of Insulating Materials?
What is thermal breakdown?
As the temperature of insulating materials increases, the loss of the dielectric continues to increase, resulting in leakage current of the material, making the temperature of the material even higher. When the heat of insulation material increases more than the heat emitted, it makes the material aging, resulting in material carbonization, this phenomenon is called thermal breakdown of insulating material.
Factors affecting thermal breakdown:
1. Excessive temperature around the material
2. Poor heat dissipation condition
3. Insulation is too thick
4. Poor thermal conductivity of the material
5. The acting voltage frequency is too high
